Plaster-and-lath transitions are common
Pre-1970 Ridgewood homes have original plaster on the main walls and ceilings; later additions and renovations are typically drywall. The seam between the two opens seasonally as the materials expand and contract at different rates. We grind out the failed joint, re-tape with mesh or paper, three-coat, and refinish.
